North Platte is home to Guardian Light Family Services' headquarters and the operational center from which we support foster families across western Nebraska. For families in Lincoln County and the surrounding region, that means deep local roots — a team that knows your community, your county's DHHS office, and the resources available to foster families in this part of the state.
Western Nebraska has its own character when it comes to foster care. Families here are often separated by distance from eastern Nebraska's metro areas, which makes having a strong local agency presence especially important. When a North Platte foster parent needs help, they're talking to someone who knows their county — not someone in Omaha who doesn't know the region. Guardian Light's North Platte team has spent years building relationships with local schools, courts, therapists, and community organizations that translate directly into better support for the families we serve.
If you're in North Platte or the surrounding communities — Ogallala, McCook, Gothenburg, or the smaller towns throughout the region — reach out to our home office. We'll walk you through what foster care involves and what support looks like for families in your area.

Family support services through Guardian Light are typically referred by DHHS or ordered by a court as part of a family's case plan. If you are a biological parent whose case plan includes Guardian Light services, your caseworker will coordinate the referral. If you are a referral source or judge, contact your nearest Guardian Light office directly to discuss service availability.
Yes. Guardian Light can coordinate multiple services for the same family under one agency. A family may receive supervised visitation, drug testing, and parenting classes simultaneously through GLFS, which simplifies coordination for DHHS, judges, and the family itself.
GLFS provides two types of supervised visitation: In-Home Supervised Visitation (IHSV), where a Guardian Light worker supervises visits in the family's home, and On-Site/Office-Based Supervised Visitation (OHSV), where visits take place at one of our visitation centers. The type ordered depends on the specifics of the court or DHHS arrangement.
Become a foster parent and make a difference—wherever you call home. Guardian Light supports you with training, 24/7 guidance, and a caring community statewide.
