The Nebraska Panhandle covers an enormous geographic area, and Guardian Light maintains a Scottsbluff office specifically because Panhandle children deserve local support. Scotts Bluff County and the surrounding communities have foster care needs that are every bit as real as anywhere in Nebraska — and families willing to care for those children shouldn't have to navigate the process alone across vast distances.
Fostering in the Panhandle comes with both challenges and genuine advantages. Some specialized services require travel, and the distance from eastern Nebraska's resources is real. But the Panhandle also offers things cities can't — close-knit communities where neighbors look out for each other, space and a slower pace that can help children from difficult situations decompress, and schools where teachers know every student by name. Guardian Light's Scottsbluff team understands this balance and helps Panhandle families leverage their community's strengths while navigating its limitations.
If you're in Scottsbluff, Gering, Chadron, or anywhere in western Nebraska and considering foster care, we'd welcome the conversation. The need in the Panhandle is acute, and families like yours are exactly what these children need.

Family support services through Guardian Light are typically referred by DHHS or ordered by a court as part of a family's case plan. If you are a biological parent whose case plan includes Guardian Light services, your caseworker will coordinate the referral. If you are a referral source or judge, contact your nearest Guardian Light office directly to discuss service availability.
Yes. Guardian Light can coordinate multiple services for the same family under one agency. A family may receive supervised visitation, drug testing, and parenting classes simultaneously through GLFS, which simplifies coordination for DHHS, judges, and the family itself.
GLFS provides two types of supervised visitation: In-Home Supervised Visitation (IHSV), where a Guardian Light worker supervises visits in the family's home, and On-Site/Office-Based Supervised Visitation (OHSV), where visits take place at one of our visitation centers. The type ordered depends on the specifics of the court or DHHS arrangement.
Become a foster parent and make a difference—wherever you call home. Guardian Light supports you with training, 24/7 guidance, and a caring community statewide.
