At Guardian Light Family Services (GLFS), our Family Preservation Program is dedicated to helping families navigate challenges while preventing unnecessary separation. We aim to strengthen families by providing therapeutic, educational, and emotional support—ensuring children grow up in safe, supportive, and loving environments.

Our Approach
- Holistic Early Intervention & Support
We identify at-risk families early and offer targeted support to prevent crises before they escalate. Our program addresses the root causes of challenges, helping families develop healthy, sustainable coping strategies.
- Parenting Support & Education
We offer therapeutic parenting education to help caregivers improve family dynamics, communication, and emotional regulation. Families are equipped to create safe, structured, and loving environments where children can thrive.
- In-Home Therapy & Support Services
We co-create personalized action plans tailored to each family through intensive, in-home therapeutic services. Our skilled therapists guide families in applying practical strategies to foster emotional safety and relational connection.
- Crisis Intervention & Empowerment
We respond quickly in times of crisis, offering stabilization, resources, and tools that reduce trauma and promote resilience. Our goal is to build confidence and capacity within families to navigate future challenges.

Collaborative Care
GLFS works closely with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (NE DHHS), schools, and local providers to ensure holistic care. Collaboration helps families receive the right support at the right time across all life domains.

The ultimate goal of our Family Preservation Program is to keep families safely together whenever possible. We help parents and caregivers build the skills, insight, and confidence to provide their children safe, nurturing, and emotionally healthy homes. We empower families to overcome challenges and create lasting, positive change through intensive, therapeutic support and collaborative partnerships.
Key Responsibilities Include

Intake & Assessment:
Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand family strengths, challenges, and goals.

Therapeutic Treatment Planning:
Collaborate with families to develop individualized, goal-driven treatment plans rooted in their values and needs.

In-Home Therapy & Coaching:
Deliver brief, intensive therapy using evidence-based interventions, supporting the family in real-time moments of change.

Additional Program Support:
Participate in supervision, team meetings, and agency trainings; take on additional duties as needed to support family success.

Discharge & Aftercare Planning:
Collaborate with families to develop individualized, goal-driven treatment plans rooted in their values and needs.

Collaboration & Coordination:
Partner with NE DHHS caseworkers, GLFS Skillbuilders, schools, and community agencies to ensure wraparound support.

Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain accurate, timely documentation that reflects services provided and aligns with program expectations.
